Encouraging cycle use, enjoying bike rides

BSO spotting

I was worried that Matt Seaton was running out of sensible things to talk about in 500 words in his weekly Two Wheels column in The Guardian (part of the Ethical Living section). But this week he focuses on BSOs - bicycle-shaped objects, those cheap bikes which are hard (sometimes impossible) to keep in good condition and end up being hard work on the road too.

Time for a Campaign for Real Bicycles? Probably not, they do exist but bicycle dealers don’t always point you to the most appropriate model for your needs, especially if you aren’t clued up on bike speak. Spend a little more time and a bit more money and you’ll get a lot more useful, longer lasting and enjoyable, result.
